The Ports prevailed by an impressive margin for the third straight night on Sunday. LHP Evan Manarino turned in one of his best starts of the season, striking out 7 without allowing a walk while throwing 7 shutout innings for Stockton, and undrafted free agent LHP Brandon Marsonek tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to complete the 7-hit shutout on Sunday. Ports batters continued their recent offensive outburst by blasting five home runs in the game. First baseman Sandber Pimentel had 3 hits and homered for the second straight night, while shortstop Sheldon Neuse homered for the third time in the last three days, belting a 3-run blast to put the Ports on the board in the 4th. Center fielder Luis Barrera slugged a solo shot, and catcher Argenis Raga and left fielder Brett Siddall both singled, homered and drove in a pair for the Ports.

The Sounds surrendered a 6-run lead to suffer the loss on Sunday. Right fielder Mark Canha slugged a grand slam in the bottom of the 1st inning to put the Sounds up 5-0. But after Nashville added another run in the 3rd, starter Ben Bracewell gave up 2 runs in the 4th before LHP Patrick Schuster surrendered 9 runs in the 6th to take the loss. RHP Raul Alcantara allowed 1 run in 1 2/3 innings of relief in his return to action for the Sounds, while left fielder Renato Nunez notched his minor-league-leading 27th home run in the 9th for Nashville. Meanwhile, the A’s sent RHP Frankie Montas back to the Sounds on Sunday and reinstated RHP Jharel Cotton from the disabled list.

RHP Grant Holmes turned in his second straight outstanding start on Sunday, allowing 1 run on just 3 hits while striking out 6 over 6 innings of work to earn his 8th win for the RockHounds. First baseman Viosergy Rosa slugged a grand slam in the 8th inning, while right fielder J.P. Sportman singled twice, stole a base and drove in a run, and third baseman Jordan Tarsovich and center fielder B.J. Boyd had a pair of hits apiece to help the Hounds win for the eighth time in their last ten games on Sunday.

Beloit won its fourth in a row while Snappers pitchers notched their fifth shutout in the team’s last nine games on Sunday. LHP Kyle Twomey turned in a strong start, allowing just 2 hits and striking out 7 over 5 shutout frames, while RHP Mitchell Jordan threw 3 scoreless innings to earn his 2nd win, and RHP John Gorman pitched a perfect 9th to complete the 4-hit shutout on Sunday. Right fielder Luke Persico singled, tripled, walked and drove in a run, while catcher Collin Theroux, center fielder Mike Martin and shortstop Eric Marinez had a pair of hits apiece for the Snappers.

21-year-old Venezuelan RHP Argenis Blanco allowed 2 runs, just 1 earned, over 6 solid innings to earn his 2nd win, while RHP Branden Kelliher tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to secure the save on Sunday. Shortstop Kevin Merrell had a pair of hits, while second baseman Ryan Gridley and right fielder Anthony Churlin each singled and drove in a run, and this year’s 18th-round draft pick for the A’s, center fielder Mickey McDonald, who was promoted to the Lake Monsters on Sunday, went 0 for 4 in his Vermont debut.

This year’s 21st-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Heath Donica, made the start and allowed 1 run over 2 innings of work, while rehabbing LHP Ty Damron gave up 2 runs in 1 inning of relief to suffer his 2nd loss for the AZL A’s. This year’s top pick for the A’s, center fielder Austin Beck, singled twice, walked, stole a base and drove in a run, while catcher Cooper Goldby singled and doubled, and 27th-round left fielder Ben Spitznagel singled and drew 3 walks in the loss.
